Welcome to Part 3 of this six–part series on how to take better control of your life and career through the art of making powerful offers.

Last week I showed you how to orient your offers to different listeners so that they have the greatest chance of being listened to. Keep in mind that we’re working on “powerful offers” that can dramatically impact your career and/or bushiness if accepted. Therefore, before you go out and “play with live (offer) bullets,” it’s worthwhile to hone your offering skills by doing some practice. This week I’ll lay out some simple steps you can follow to build your “offer muscle.”

6 Steps to Job Satisfaction and Career Satisfaction with Powerful Offers: Part 2, Tuning In

Welcome to Part 2 of this six–part series on how to take better control of your life and career through the art of making powerful offers.

Last week I introduced the essential elements of a powerful offer, including that there needs to be someone to listen to the offer. Surprise, surprise. Maybe you’re even thinking, “How lame is that.” But, again, don’t make the mistake of taking the listener for granted—it’s an essential element that is so often forgotten or overlooked. So bearing this in mind, let’s start to refine how you think about and prepare your powerful offers for listeners.

This invaluable business/career know-how will help you approach listeners in a way that perhaps you haven’t done before. Business is where the offers you make (and to whom you make them) can mean the difference between a career that just sort of putters along, and one that moves with energy and consistency. In such a setting, a critical factor is the listener’s POWER.

Welcome to this valuable series of postings that I’m starting this week. In this series I’ll show you how to take better control of your work and career through the art of making powerful offers.

6 Steps to Powerful Offers and Why They Are So Important

In this series you’ll learn:

  • What makes up a powerful offer so that you can speak with intention instead of just saying whatever pops out of your mouth

  • How to better understand the different types of people to whom you will be making offers so that you can communicate your offers more effectively

  • Ways to practice so that when you “play with live bullets” you are effective

  • How to build trust so that your offers are taken seriously

  • How to target your offers

  • How to design a BIG offer

By learning the distinctions and the art of making powerful offers you can add new vitality to your career. If you’re working for a company, you can increase your value to it. If you’re self-employed, you can achieve bigger results than you ever thought possible.

Hello World!, Coaching, and Job Search

Filed under: Jobs, Coaching — Dr. Steve at 3:00 pm on Friday, February 3, 2006

Hello World! seems like a fit title for my-first ever blog post. But I also have some coaching comments and a hot job search tip.

There’s so much to talk about and so much that I want to share that I truly don’t know where to start. Feels like a first date when you’re both searching for something to say, before you’ve “clicked.”

Well, as a coach I know there’s a lesson here. What is it? When you’re about to start something new, there can be some fear or at least apprehension of the unknown. Then you have a decision to make. You can sit and observe and wait until the time feels right; you can go away and come back some other time; you can just jump in.

Now, I know the right choice depends on the situation. If we’re talking about performing brain surgery, for me, the right choice would be to “go away” or perhaps “sit and observe” if I was curious enough. But I’m talking about blogging.

I’m taking the “just jump in” approach. I recommend this approach when the stakes aren’t life and death. It’s an excellent way to accelerate your learning and even have fun in the process.

How do you approach starting something new?

“Something new” for me right now is blogging. Let me hear from you about your approach to something new you’ve tried. You can use the reply form below. (OH NO! I don’t know how to get the reply form to appear. Well, if you see it, you’ll know I figured it out.) I’ll share your helpful ideas in future posts.
